Salvatore Salamone

Salvatore Salamone has been writing about science and information technology for 20 years. During that time he has been a senior editor at many major publications including High Technology, Network World, Byte Magazine, Data Communications, LAN Times, and InternetWeek. Mr. Salamone has also written numerous freelance articles for magazines including BCR, tele.com, and MIT's Technology Review.

He is author of three business technology books including "The Complete Guide to VPNs" (InternetWeek, 1999); "Managing Remote Connectivity" (McGraw-Hill/Osborne, 1997; Spanish edition published July 1998; Chinese edition published September 1998) and co-author of "Reducing the Cost of LAN Ownership" (Van Nostrand Reinhold, 1995). And he wrote the sections on space navigation and communication for "Space Sciences," an encyclopedia for high school students published by MacMillan Library Reference in 2002.

He is currently a senior editor/writer in Ziff Davis Enterprise's Custom Solutions Group. His work involves planning, developing, writing, and editing content for custom white papers, inserts, surveys, podcasts, teleconferences, and videos for a variety of clients.

Mr. Salamone has been a frequent speaker at industry conferences and has helped organize and conduct industry roundtable discussions on a variety of topics. This included running panels and making presentations at numerous NetWorld+Interop, ComNet, CeBIT, and Comdex conferences. He also worked on, judged, and ran 'Best of Show" awards programs at these trade shows.

While at InternetWeek, Mr. Salamone helped establish the InternetWeek VPN Alliance, an educational group whose purpose was to be a resource for IT managers interested in virtual private networking. In this role, he developed and presented day-long seminars on the business and technical issues of using VPNs and wrote four VPN White Papers published in InternetWeek.

He holds a B.S. and M.S., both in physics, from Boston College. Additionally, Mr. Salamone is an active member in the National Association of Science Writers and its local New York Chapter. He is also a member of Sigma Pi Sigma, the national physics honor society.

Outside of work, Mr. Salamone is an avid runner who competes in charity road races around the country. He has run the New York City Marathon seven times and the "Race up the stairs of the Empire State Building" once.
