Matthew Eastwood, Group Vice President of IDC's Enterprise Platform Group (EPG), leads a team of analysts responsible for identifying and analyzing vendor strategies, technology, market and customer trends affecting enterprise platforms worldwide. In this role he is responsible for managing market analysis, forecasting and consulting for servers, workstations, hardware channels, datacenter trends, virtualization software, systems management software and server & client operating environments worldwide. Additionally, Mr. Eastwood is also responsible for managing IDC's Enterprise IT Advisory Council which provides on-going insight into end-user technology and supplier perceptions including purchasing intent across the enterprise. Mr. Eastwood speaks frequently at IDC, industry, and customer events around the world and is frequently quoted in leading business and technology publications.

Mr. Eastwood provides in-depth market analysis, research, and consulting on key aspects of the server marketplace to both buyers and suppliers of technology. Also through his role, Mr. Eastwood has engaged clients, media and trade press through speaking events in North and South America, Europe and Asia. During his tenure at IDC, Mr. Eastwood has led IDC primary research focused on emerging trends in the enterprise systems market. In particular, this primary research allows IDC to make continual assessments regarding how enterprise customers are deploying server hardware in their data centers. Recent topics covered in Mr. Eastwood's research include: Power and Cooling, Green IT, Multi-core Servers, Server Virtualization, Server and Storage Workloads, Platform Migration, IT Consolidation and Server Clustering.

Prior to joining IDC, Mr. Eastwood worked as a senior project manager and consultant at Camp Dresser & McKee (CDM) in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Mr. Eastwood was responsible for managing the planning and design of large environmental infrastructure projects including wastewater collection and treatment facilities. In addition, Mr. Eastwood served as Operations Manager of the firm's New England practice. In this capacity, he was responsible for monitoring financial performance, resource planning, and compensation on a regional basis.

Mr. Eastwood received a bachelor's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston and earned his M.S. in Engineering Project Management from WPI in Worcester, MA.
